Detained by ICE in Iowa
Support for individuals being held in jails without legal representation
There are many ways to get involved! We work to match volunteers with opportunities that align with their interests, skills, strengths, and current capacity to ensure a meaningful and sustainable fit. All volunteers receive training, guidance, and ongoing support so they feel prepared to step into their role with confidence.
Some of the volunteer opportunities we are currently seeking support for include:
Direct service support for individuals detained by ICE (through our Monarch Messengers Program)
Resource coordination and community navigation
Social media, storytelling, and awareness building
Community outreach and volunteer engagement
Fundraising and donation outreach
Purchase or gather backpack items (currently only in Omaha through Packs for Friends)
Donating to support the work
Translation (for resources, conversations as needed, etc)
Grant search / grant writing
Training and Education for advocates
AND MORE!
As we ramp up, we are working exclusively with those detained at Linn County Jail in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. As of May, there have been over 215 individuals detained here by ICE.
Currently
We strive to work alongside organizations and individuals, not above them. The distinction shapes how we show up, what we build, and who holds us to it.
